Nikon has introduced three new Nikkor lenses just in time for PMA 2008. The first is a new Perspective Control (PC) lens, the PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED. The second is an updated Micro Nikkor lens, the AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED. Last is an all new DX "walk around" lens, the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.
Like other PC Nikkors, the 24mm PC-E has a tilt/shift mechanism which allows control over perspective, distortion, and focus. This is extremely helpful for architectural, interior, or nature photographers trying to gain proper perspective on an image. The 24mm PC-E Nikkor is the first "E" type lens, which features an electromagnetic diaphragm that controls the aperture with the latest Nikon Digital SLRs. This lens is sure to produce an absolutely stunning field of view on the D3. The PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED should be available this spring with an estimated price of $1929.
Nikon also announced that it has two new PC-E Nikkor lenses in development: an all new 45mm and an updated 85mm. Both lenses are expected to be released this summer.
The all new AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED updates one of my favorite lenses with some of the latest Nikkor technology including Silent Wave Autofocus and Nano Crystal coating. The new 60mm also features Internal Focus, which should make it much easier to use with the Nikon R1 and R1C1 close-up kits. The AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED is due this March at an estimated price of $549.99.
Last, the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85 f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is the latest in Nikon's DX lineup of lenses. Featuring a 35mm equivilant 24-127mm zoom range and Nikon's VR II technology, this lens could prove to be an excellent "walk around" lens for DX-Format shooters. The AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is scheduled for release this March at an estimated price of $649.99
